Madlot

Madlot, the ensemble's name is derived from a Dutch traditional danze in 6/8 meter that was popular around the North sea coast in the 19th century. They find sources of inspiration for their repertoire in Dutch collections printed from the 17th century, from the old folk musicians and from their friends they play with. They play cheerful or otherwise catchy tunes: colleague musicians from last centuries knew many! These tunes are interspersed with songs which are handed over during many generations. Many of them were recorded in the 20th century. Madlot consists of Marianne Heselmans, Rolf Groeneveld, Bert Lotz and Judica Lookman.
