Üzeyir Hacıbəyov

(6 [18] September 1885 - November 23, 1948) عزيربك بن عبدالحسين حاجى بكوف Soviet composer, conductor, musicologist, publicist, playwright, teacher, public figure. People's Artist of the USSR (1938). Winner of two Stalin Prizes, ll degree (1941, 1946). Knight of the Order of Lenin (1938). The founder of modern professional music of Azerbaijan. Full member of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan SSR (1945), Professor (1940), rector of Azerbaijan State Conservatoire (1928-1929, 1939-1948), Chairman of the Union of Composers of Azerbaijan SSR (1938-1948), deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the 1st and 2nd convocations (1937, 1941). Member of the CPSU (b) since 1938. Author anthems of Azerbaijan SSR and the anthem of Azerbaijan. The author of the first opera in the entire Islamic world.
