Lynn Carey

Singer, model, actress and songwriter Lynn Carey was born October 29, 1946 in Los Angeles, California, daughter of famous actor [a=Macdonald Carey] she is best known as the lead vocalist in the band [a=Mama Lion]. Lynn began her show business career as an actress and a model while still in her teens. Carey has a sizable co-starring part in the wild comedy "Lord Love a Duck" and has a minor role in "How Sweet It Is!". She made guest appearances on the TV shows "Lassie," "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.," "Run for Your Life," and "The Wild Wild West." Lynn joined the band [a=C. K. Strong] in the late 60's, the group recorded two albums prior to breaking up in 1970. Carey next was the lead singer for the equally short-lived band [a=Ivar Avenue Reunion], they only recorded one album. Lynn then paired up with vocalist/bassist [a=Neil Merryweather], the duo recorded a single album in 1971. Lynn achieved her greatest musical success as the lead singer for the bluesy hard rock outfit [a=Mama Lion], the band recorded two albums which were excellent showcases for Carey's amazingly strong and robust Janis Joplinesque blues belter voice. Carey sings the powerhouse full-throttle lead vocals on all the songs done by the fictional all-girl rock group the Carrie Nations in Russ Meyer's delightfully outrageous camp cult classic [url=http://www.discogs.com/release/4076654]Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls[/url]. Moreover, Lynn also co-wrote the songs "Find It" and "Once I Had You" with [a=Stu Phillips]. The busty and beautiful blonde was the Penthouse Pet of the Month in the December, 1972 issue of "Penthouse" magazine. She released the solo album [url=http://www.discogs.com/release/3703644]Good Times[/url] in 1984. Lynn Carey still continues to sing with various jazz ensembles.
