Alistair Coakley

Guitarist, songwriter, arranger and producer, from South Africa. An early member of 1970's Port Elizabeth band Express and Rhodesian rock band Gate, he eventually formed South African afro-rock band Hotline in 1980. After the dissolution of Hotline, he joined the band Stimela with Ray Phiri. In more recent years, he has played for various groups such as the Waldorf String Band, Michael Canfield and Rhythm Section Africa, The Rock Rebels and The Vipers. Nowadays, he has started to teach electric and acoustic guitar online from his studio in Johannesburg.
