Antonio Cotogni
Italian baritone singer and teacher. Born 1 August 1831 Via dei Genovesi, 13, Rome, Italy. Died 15 October 1918 (aged 87) Rome, Italy. Regarded internationally as being one of the greatest male opera singers of the 19th century, He studied music theory and singing from an early age and began singing in churches and at summer music festivals outside Rome. After retiring from performin 1894, he taught others to sing including other opera greats [a1393386], [a3772628], [a3735728], [a1143547] and more. He was the creator of the Roman School of Singing.
