People Who Must

Formed in 1989 while founding member Joe Stevenson was still in high school, People Who Must took their name from a Carl Sandburg poem. The groups first album, 1995's The Road You Travel was produced by Jeff Tomei and John Keane (Indigo Girls, Widespread Panic). In 1997 People Who Must released their second album, Lost Wire Transfer. The first single, "It Fades", was quickly embraced by modern rock radio stations across the country. In November 1997 they chose was to once again work with producer/engineer Jeff Tomei (Matchbox 20, Smashing Pumpkins) to produce Never Ending Road To Success. The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters released in 2008 is a double CD with over two hours of music. Disc one features 13 tracks of new music featuring the song “Been in Love.” Disc two is a collection of work spanning the past decade containing all new and old unreleased songs. The album, co-written and co-produced by Joe Stevenson and John Kolbeck, is full of catchy pop songs ready for the airwaves. This could arguably be their best work to date. In 2013 People Who Must returned and released the Silver Screen EP, It includes 5 previously unreleased songs. Get Off This, Brand New Day and Amazing which were written in early 2000.
