New Zealand country music performer, born in 1939. Passed away December 2018. 1939: Born Harold Ian Spittle on March 3 in Gore, NZ. As he was born without a right ear or eardrum, he didn’t go to school until the age of seven. He spent 12 years in and out of hospital while doctors fashioned an ear from a skin graft from his shoulder.
