Bill Fredericks

Bill Fredericks joined the Drifters in the final months of 1966 -- the other Drifters at that time were Johnny Moore, Charlie Thomas and Rick Sheppard. Fredericks sang lead on several Drifters tracks in the late 60s: Up Jumped the Devil (b-side, July 1967), I Need You Now (b-side, Dec 1967), Steal Away (b-side, April 1969), and Black Silk (a-side, July 1970). Fredericks and Johnny Moore stayed with Faye Treadwell's Drifters when they moved their base of operations to the UK in 1972. There Fredericks sang lead for The Drifters on their #7 chart hit Like Sister and Brother in 1973, but left the group in 1974 for a solo career. Later on he released one solo album in the UK and a number of singles. Born: 23 August 1941 in New York. Died: 28 April 1999 in London (aged 57).
