Mable John

Singer and songwriter, born 3 November 1930 in Bastrop, Louisiana, died 25th August 2022. A recording artist for [l=Motown] in the late 1950s/early 1960s, she joined [a=Ray Charles]' backing singers [b]The Raelets[/b] in 1962. From 1966 to 1968 John recorded as a solo artist again for the [l=Stax] label. She then rejoined the Raelets but soon left again to focus on Christian music. Sister of [a=Little Willie John] and [a=Mertis John].
