Moni Mambo Jim

Congolese singer and song-writer. Ntshimba "Jimmy" Monimambo was born to Angolan parents in Kinshasha, Congo on 15th November 1949. In the late 1960s he sang for several Kinshasha bands (Orchestra Tampala, Orchestra Los Angel, Orchestra Viper Noirs) before relocating to Brazzaville and joining [a1635061]. After stints with Orchestra Super Vox, Orchestra Success Mwachana (and possibly Orchestra Basanga), he travelled to Nairobi, Kenya, in 1975 and joined Boma Liwanza. Shortly afterwards in 1976 he formed his own band [a2166554] but continued to write (and possibly sing) for Boma Liwanza. Around the same time, Jimmy also sang for [a3385174] where he met [a2137523]. These two then formed [a3444389] in 1980.
