Hayim Nahman Bialik

Hayim Nahman Bialik (born January 9, 1873 in Radi, Ukraine, Russian Empire, died July 4, 1934 in Vienna, Austria) was a Jewish poet who wrote in Hebrew and Yiddish. He is considered a pioneer of modern Hebrew poetry. He lived in Tel Aviv from 1927 until his death and was recognized as Israel's national poet. He is mainly credited for lyrics as many of his poems have been set to music.
