Hector Lavoe

American salsa singer, and artist. Born: 30 September 1946 in Machuelo Abajo, Ponce, Puerto Rico. Died: 29 June 1993 in Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA (aged 46). Salsa and bolero singer known as "El Cantante De Los Cantantes" (en: The Singer Of Singers). After moving to New York aged 17 he collaborated with [a=Willie Colón] on [a=Johnny Pacheco]'s label [l= Fania Records] to produce more than 10 albums over an 8 year period until 1974, then going on to even greater fame working on his own. Uncle of [a=Louie Vega].
