George Peckham

Born Blackburn, England 1942. British lacquer-cutting and mastering engineer, better known as "Porky" (as in "a Porky prime cut") with an illustrious career, including work on [a=The Beatles], [a=Genesis], and [a=Led Zeppelin] catalogues. He started his career in disc cutting as a trainee at Apple in 1968 and his signature can be found in the dead wax/runout grooves of many a rock, punk, post-punk, and new wave record pressed in the UK. Porky would often include cryptic/humorous messages in these etchings, e.g. "you'll never work again" on the A-side of [a=The Fall] "[r=372019]" (1980). Studios of his career include: [l=Apple Studios] (late 1960s), [l=Master Room] (early 1970s), [l=I.B.C. Studios]/[l=Portland Studios] (1974 to 1984), and [l=Porky's Mastering] (since 1984).
