John Wilson (40)

US jazz trumpeter. After graduating from high school, he joined the Dick Stabile Orchestra. After leaving Benny Goodman's band, he joined the Sauter-Finnegan Orchestra. In 1954, he made his debut recording with guitarist Jimmy Raney. In 1970, he received a Ph.D. in Music from NYU. Director of jazz studies at Duquesne University. Retired in 1996.
