De Legende

The group De Legende (the legend) was formed after Elvis Peeters & Fred Angst (who previously formed the core of the Dutch singing punk-wave group Aroma di Amore ) finished their Peeters & Angst project in 1992. Peeters found a new musical partner in Geert Corbeels from Men 2nd (strangely enough, the other half of that duo, Luc Gulinck, would later form a group with Fred Angst in Kolk , which actually became an exchange operation). De Legende got off to a great start: the Ten Dans albumette immediately delivered two (modest) radio hits. After a second mini-CD in 1993 it took until 1997 for De Legende to return, now with Geert Waegeman (multi-instrumentalist of Cro Magnon etc ...) as part of the band. Once again, success eluded De Legende. (Elvis Peeters was lucid enough to understand the reason for the lack of attention: "I am a cult figure: people know me within the circle, and anyone who is interested in my work knows how to find it. And that is actually sufficient: I do not aspire to become widely known. Although I would like people to know that there is a new CD of De Legende and that the radio may play something from time to time, but at the same time I am realistic enough to wonder: which station can play this?")
