Tamarisk

Formed in 1982 by singer Andy Grant & keyboard player Steve Leigh. Tamarisk were part of the New Wave of British Progressive Rock. Or Neo-Progressive as it also know. Grant and Leigh met when Steve joined Essex band Chemical Alice. He replaced Mark Kelly who had left to join Marrilion. The band recorded 2 cassette EP’s between 82 & 85. They toured the 80’s club & festival scene but never managed to get that elusive deal. When the band split in 1985 Steve joined prog band Quasar before forming Landmarq with Drummer Dave Wagstaffe. Andy retired from music for a few years be for returning in the 90’s fronting a number of successful covers/tribute bands. In 2012 Andy decided to try and revive Tamarisk’s music. This resulted in the self financed Frozen In Time. Remaster from the cassettes it was a big success. In 2017 Sonic age records funded a proper remastering. It was decided to record some songs as bonus tracks for the 2018 CD release Breaking The Chains. This was the first “new” material in 30+ years. Tamarisk played their first gigs in 2018 including Chinnerys in Southend which was recorded and released as 332018LIVE! During the covid pandemic they found time to record a new album, Suspended Animation. Andy & Steve returned to their music from the 80s as the basis of the 6 songs. Dave Wagstaffe joined on drums, Tom Yetton guitar, Ed Rome bass and production. Luke Morley guitarist from rock legends Thunder.
