Ron Baumber

Ron Baumber is a Canadian folk singer, songwriter, musician and producer from Regina, Saskatchewan. Founded [l=Ixtlan Records] with Dana Boone in April 1976. Was in a short-lived trio with [a=Tom Dunn (4)] and [a=D'Arcy Wickham]. As a young man he made the journey to Toronto where he found success as a singer-songwriter. His album ‘China Doll’ was critically acclaimed and remains a collector’s item. Ron moved on to working in music management, promotions and recording and was awarded one gold and two platinum albums for promoting the album Welcome to the Rodeo, featuring the infamous Rodeo Song, and a Juno Award for his work with [a=Eddie Schwartz]. Ron later had a blast and many laughs performing with the Oldies band “Pastimes”. After a hiatus, he returned to stage and studio with some of his best work. Ron played regularly with his much-loved community at the Moonshine Café as well as across Ontario with ensembles of talented fellow musicians. He recorded with [a=Brian Gagnon] and spent many hours creating and tinkering in his home studio. Ron was a passionate advocate for humane and dignified accessible transportation in Peel Region. Ronald John Baumber was born on April 13, 1950 in Regina Saskatchewan; passed away due to a battle with Covid-19 on May 19, 2021, at the age of 71.
