Jazz trumpeter. Born in New York City on June 12, 1915. Died in Irvine, California on April 11, 2009. He played and recorded with many of the leading swing bands, including those of [a=Benny Goodman], [a=Artie Shaw], [a=Bob Crosby], [a=Red Norvo], [a=Tommy Dorsey] and [a=Glenn Miller].
