Michael Allen (13)

Low brass specialist, educator, arranger, and copyist. Michael Allen is principal tuba of the Central City Opera Orchestra, Colorado Ballet Orchestra, and Opera Colorado. He is a founding member of the Boulder Brass, serving as its principal tuba, music director and executive director. He is a former member of the Dallas Brass and has also performed with the Canadian Brass, Grand Teton Music Festival Brass, and the Summit Brass. He also served on the faculty as instructor (and later assistant professor) of the University of Colorado Boulder from 1990 – 2004 where he taught tuba, euphonium, brass chamber music, instrumentation, theory, music appreciation and business of music. He has written and published over 300 arrangements for brass quintet and large brass ensemble. Michael's arrangements have been performed and/or recorded by the Canadian Brass, Summit Brass, and the Burning River Brass, to name but a few. I am also a music copyist in high demand having worked for David Foster, the Moody Blues, Three Dog Night, Michael Bolton, Al Jarreau, Kansas, Paul Winter Consort, Marvin Hamlisch, Brian Wilson, the Boston Pops, and the London Symphony.
