Mazzeltov

Dutch Klezmer Band number one (de Volkskrant) With klezmer people think about getting upbeat party music. And, yes, if there is an opportunity, Mazzeltov plays throughout the night, until the last couple on the dance floor is collapsed. But Mazzeltov does so much more ... The band focuses on Yiddish song. Much of this music was born from a mix of Jewish music and Eastern European folk music. Mazzeltov keeps this tradition alive. The band plays lovingly known and lesser-known gems from the old Yiddish repertoire. Mazzeltov plays own compositions and Yiddish poems put to music by the band. The group meets occasionally with unexpected Yiddish translations of contemporary Dutch and French songs. For more than ten years Mazzeltov makes theater tour programs at home and abroad, with singer Rolinha Kross as leading lady. With her warm voice and frank look she knows how to surprise the audience. The performances at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw are a regular highlight for the group. The group already made six CDs. The CD 'Mishpoge "was nominated for an Edison in 2005. For the latest CD Mayn Umru (2009) the band selected the language in Yiddish Willy Brill, a series of Yiddish poems and set them to music. All songs include the panache which the band is known for. "Klezmer at the international level" (the Volkskrant).
