Traditional jazz bassist active in the 30's, 40's & 50's. Noted for working with [a=Louis Jordan] & [a=Billie Holiday]. Not to be confused with his drummer, bassist & producer grandson [a=Charley Drayton]. His son [a=Bernard Drayton] is a successful jingle and record producer.
