Liza Öhman

Swedish singer but also songwriter and voice actor. She was born as Carin Elisabeth Öhman on December 24, 1951 in Hedvig Eleonora, Stockholm and died in a hospital on January 12, 2022. Her last home address was in Örbyhus, Tierp. In the 1970s Liza Öhman worked as backing vocalist on studio recordings with artists like [a405463], [a180928] and [a390714]. She appeared a first time in 1980, and a few more times after that, in the Swedish competition for an entry to the [l680322] and was at the same time hired as one of the backing vocalists on [a69866]'s world tour in 1979 and 1980. So the day after that Swedish competition in Stockholm on March 8, 1980, Liza Öhman (3rd place) and the winner [a205002] had to take a flight back to Japan to continue and join [a1551883] again as backing vocalists on [a69866]'s world tour. In 1980 Liza Öhman also released her career's only solo LP. For that and for her breakthrough as artist earlier that year, she was awarded in February 1981 with a [l1635029] as Sweden's best female artist of the year 1980. Öhman was hired as backing vocalist on [a323925]'s first major tour in Sweden in 1983 and for [a975170]'s Chess in Concert - arena Tour in London, Hamburg, Paris and Stockholm. As voice actor, she was the Swedish voice as Simba's mother in "The Lion King". The role as Simba was voice acted by her son Johan. She has also voice acted in two films about the Smurfs, in "Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey" and in a couple of more films. During the 1980s and 1990s she also produced recordings on LPs and CDs for children. In 2014 Liza Öhman was awarded with the prize "Studioräven", for her life time achievements as skilled studio musician, in Pelarsalen at [l337454] in Stockholm. She had at that time of her career reached the position as Sweden's most hired and recorded backing vocalist.
