Roy Milton

Roy Milton (born July 31, 1907, Wynnewood, Oklahoma, USA - died September 18, 1983, Los Angeles, California, USA) was an American R&B and jump blues singer, drummer and bandleader. He played with [a1474769]' band in the late 1920's before moving to Los Angeles, California in 1933, where he formed his own band [a843761] playing rhythm and blues which proved to be successful. Nicknamed the "Grandfather of Rhythm & Blues" he was very popular with black audiences from 1945 to 1953.
