Doug Morgan (4)

American saxophonist. Douglas W. Morgan is the baritone saxophonist with the Airmen of Note, The United States Air Force Band, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C. Originally from Grove City, Pennsylvania, his career in the Air Force began in 1997 as a saxophonist with the Band of Flight at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Morgan completed a master's degree from the University of Maryland and a bachelor's degree from the University of North Texas (UNT). As a member of the UNT One O'Clock Lab Band, he performed in Portugal, Japan, Hong Kong and throughout the United States. As a member of the Two O'Clock Lab Band, he received a Downbeat Student Music Award. Morgan also attended Northern Illinois University as a graduate assistant, and freelanced in the Chicago area. In 1995, he performed with Disney All-American College Jazz Band. While assigned to the Band of Flight, he appeared on two recordings with the Wright-Patterson jazz and rock bands, and performed at the Ohio Music Educators Association convention and the Detroit Montreaux Jazz Festival. He performed regularly with the Jazz Central Big Band and freelanced in the Cincinnati, Dayton and Columbus, Ohio, areas. In 1999, he co-founded the Dayton Jazz workshop, a weekly music forum for local high school students teaching jazz styles, theory and improvisation. He has performed with artists such as Gerry Mulligan, Arturo Sandoval, Clark Terry, Joe Williams, Jerry Bergonzi, Joe Lovano, James Moody, Tito Puente, Dianne Reeves, Phil Woods, Diane Schur, Claudio Roditi and Aretha Franklin.
