Richard Searling

Soul DJ, promoter and radio show presenter based in Bolton, Greater Manchester, born on 14 June 1952. A former DJ at the Wigan Casino and other venues until his retirement from club DJing in September 2019. Founded [l=Expansion] in 1986 with [a=John Anderson (75)] on which he continues to release compilations, notably the [l=Soul Togetherness] series. Authored a book on the Northern Soul scene, Setting The Record Straight: Music And Memories From Wigan Casino 1973-1981, published in September 2018. Awarded the British Empire Medal in June 2019 for services to the soul music industry and community in the north of England; the medal was presented in November 2019. Hosts a weekly show on Solar Radio which is archived on his Mixcloud page.
