Bob Corwin

American Jazz pianist. Born in 1933 in Hollis, NY. Corwin began playing piano early but viewed the instrument as a way to make a few bucks in college while taking pre-dental courses. Bandleader and multi-instrumentalist [a473375] heard Corwin at a club and asked him to join a quartet he was forming. Corwin agreed to take the job, but just for a week so he could pull down enough money for rent. But after two weeks, Corwin realized that he wanted to play piano, not fill cavities. He collaborated frequently with Elliott. His dad performed piano for silent films. He was a pianist for Peggy Lee, Anita O'Day, and Carmen McRae, and also Johnny Mercer's long-time accompanist and musical stenographer. He married Mercer's adopted daughter Amanda (Mandy) in 1960. He was previously married to Jazz singer [a11786945]. In 1997, he and performing partner Shari Lynn released "Miss You, Mr. Mercer", with her singing and him playing piano. In 2002, he released the CD 'Bob Corwin Danny Flahive "Live" Desert Nights' with Corwin playing the piano and Danny Flahive the bass. The two of them have played together for over twenty years including with his son and daughter-in-law in "Meet the Corwins ". He also recorded with Bob Kenmotsu on "Reunion" in 2002 and toured with Rose Kingsley in 2014 in a cabaret act.
