Jessye Norman (born September 15, 1945 in Augusta, GA, died September 30, 2019 in New York City, NY) was an American opera singer and recitalist. A four-time Grammy Award-winner, she was one of the most admired contemporary opera singers and recitalists, and one of the highest paid performers in classical music.
