Mark Charig

English trumpeter, cornetist and alto horn player, born 22 February 1944 in London. After work with rhythm and blues groups, he started playing with [a=Elton Dean] (recording 1971, 1976-1977 and 1980) and [a=Keith Tippett] (recording 1969-1971). In early 1970s played briefly with [a=Soft Machine] and [a=King Crimson] before joining [a=Chris McGregor], with whom he played intermittently until 1981. He lives in Germany since the 1980s and is a member of the [a=Wuppertaler Improvisations Orchester].
