Jesse Brooks
As the story goes, DJ and producer Jesse Brooks was always fascinated by music. Sonic variations from punk, rock, heavy metal, ska, new wave, hip hop, reggae and dance have all played their respective roles in shaping Jesse’s sound. Brooks Senior, Jesses’ father, was a folk musician who played with the Carpenters and John Denver. It is all of these wide-ranging influences that have created Jesse’s trademark behind the decks: his diversity. While most DJs remain confined to strict boundaries, Jesse possesses the unique ability to transcend them, displaying all styles of dance in his wide-ranging sets. From breaks to techno, deep house to cutting edge bang, Jesse refuses to be pigeonholed. Jesse began his professional DJ career in 1993, and was a popular part of the Los Angeles based Fresh Produce crew. Jesse was also a regular at Joy and the Troubadour, in addition to his continuous circuit of house parties. Over the past decade, Jesse has continued to break boundaries with his diverse style and has DJed up and down the West Coast and alongside the likes of Mark Lewis, Carl Cox, DJ Dan, Christopher Lawrence, Rabbit in the Moon and Josh Wink, appearing in Canada, Malaysia, and Peru, to name a few.
