Rozelle Claxton

American jazz pianist and arranger. Born February 5, 1913 in Memphis, Tennessee, died March 30, 1995. Lived in Kansas City from 1933, working with [a=Bennie Moten], [a=Harlan Leonard] and [a=Ernie Fields]. Moved to Chicago in 1940 to play with [a=Eddie South]; also played with [a=Roy Eldridge] and others. From 1959 he played with [a=Franz Jackson And His Original Jass All-Stars], and later traveled as [a=Pearl Bailey]'s accompanist (1978-1983.)
