Richard Benson (2)

Richard Philip Henry John Benson, known simply as Richard Benson (born 10 March 1955 in Woking, England - dead 10 may 2022 in Rome, Italy) was an English-Italian vocalist and guitarist. He moved to Rome in the 60s. He was also the host of TV shows in which he tried to spread rock and metal music in Italy by analizing and criticizing an album on each episode. The most famous show was "Ottava Nota", which aired from the 80s to the mid 90s on the local TV channel TVA-40. From the mid 2000s, he conducted "Cocktail Micidiale", aired on the local TV channel Televita. 1984 saw his first release, [r=499781]. In 1987 he curated the compilation album, "Metal Attack". In the second half of the 1990s he arrived at the peak of his musical career by playing several concerts in Rome. His last known studio release is 1999's [r=6186776] Benson has then appeared in Italian national broadcast television as a music critic, though the role of Benson in the show was rather comical than serious, in facts, playing a sort of parody of his own character.
