Werd

Werd, coming from San Jose, CA, got in touch with the [a=Phaderheadz] in 1998 for the first time. After he met DJ Use while he was trying to sell tapes he was invited to became a guest DJ for the "Freshouthebox"-Crew. Werd is spinning the wheels of steel since 1995 and 1 year later he founded the college radio show "Curbside" at the KSCU in Santa Clara. Together with [a=Teao] Werd was able to give independent underground artists a platform. As a member of the "Bay Area Hip-Hop Coalition" he was able to have artists in his show like [a=Gravediggaz], [a=Company Flow], [a=Kaotic Souls], [a=Jihad (4)] or [a=Prince Paul]. In 1997 he released "Curbside Mixture", the first of three mixtapes. Then in 1998 "Freehand Recordings" was released and also was published in Europa. Also in 1998 founded the group "San Jose Unified" with some other artists from San Jose. One year later, after the recordings of his third mixtape "The End of the Western Civilization" done together with SJ Unified, he moved to Berlin to "start spreading the werd of conscious Hip-Hop"
