Lunar Asylum

Lunar Asylum is a pioneering Goa Trance act formed in the early 90's by Paul Greendale and Chris Stevenson. Based in West London they set up Sirius Records, a key player in London’s emerging Goa/Psy-Trance scene. Singles followed on Sirius, Transient, Phantasm Records, Celtic, and Psychic Deli. While other tracks were licensed to compilations on Phantasm, Aquarius, BMSS, Spirit Zone, Transient, FM Records, Matsuri, MDMA Records, Celtic, and Distance to Goa. Phantasm released their self-titled album, which included tracks such as Van Halen, Vanishing Point, and Twister. By now firmly established, live gigs followed in Estonia, Denmark, Switzerland, Portugal, London/UK, Belgium and Israel. But by 1998 Paul and Chris had become disillusioned with the scene, and called it a day. Paul subsequently worked with Phantasm Records' boss John Ford as Evil Genius, releasing an EP on Berlin's Spin Twist Records, and with DJ Ashley Casselle under the name Ashtrax. He has now re-established Lunar Asylum as a live act, working with Suntrip, Hot Records, 604 Bookings, Magica Global and Oli Bookings. Recent bookings have included gigs in India, Israel, Greece, Belgium, Portugal, Spain, and Switzerland. Classic Goa Trax/Suntrip Records released a retrospective Singles Collection in Feb 2021: “Lunar Asylum had name and fame in the British acidic old school goa-trance scene of the 90s! Their music was filled with TB303 sounds, crazy melodies and raw & funky tweaked synths! All tracks are of the original cd files, enjoy these classics! Paul spent the first half of 2023 and 2024 in India, and has now played in Indore, Bangalore, and Kasol, including shows at Old School Festival, Moses' Trip and Magica 2024. He is currently writing a brand new Lunar Asylum album, Total Internal Reflection, featuring collaborations with John Ford, DJ Naacal and Indian flautist Abhi Shakti. A new single is to be announced shortly, The Mountains and The Skies / Are You Positive?
