Papa Molina

Dominican musician and bandleader born on December 19th, 1925. He studied music theory with Arístides Rojas at the Municipal Academy of Music in Moca, his hometown. Later he joined the municipal band. He also worked as a professor of Solfège. In 1942, he entered as a trumpet player in the famous [a= Super Orquesta San José], performing in their radio shows through "La Voz Del Yuna". Some time later, Molina became director of the orchestra, which delighted Dominicans throughout the era of Trujillo and beyond. Papa Molina has composed popular pieces of music such as the bolero "Evocación", played by [a=Billo's Caracas Boys] and symphonic works such as "Three Folk Images".
