Eric Winstone

British composer, conductor, bandleader and multi-instrumentalist. Born: 1 January 1915, London, England Died: 2 May 1974, (age of 59) Pagham, Sussex, England. Piano-accordionist, he was especially popular between the late 1930's and the late 1950's as a soloist or leader of a swing quartet, made up of accordion, bass, guitar and vibraphone. He also periodically led a larger dance band. He gained much exposure from his radio program "Music While You Work". His best-remembered compositions include "Stage Coach" (his signature tune), "Oasis", "Bottle Party", "Mirage", "Pony Express", and he also wrote several light pieces and some background music for films.
