Chiqui Tamayo

Cuban-Colombian Cumbia and Salsa Singer, composer and Musical director. He moves to Colombia by the 1960s and get his Colombian Citizen and worked with multiple Colombian bands, doing Tropical music with some Cuban music accent inluded in almost all of his prolific musical production. He participate in Venezuelan Big Bangs (Tropical Music Bands) producing Porro, Paseo, Cumbia and Afro-caribbean rhythm for Colombian Caribbean. He participate in legenday Venezuelan bands like “Los Melódicos”, “La Tremenda” y “Los Solistas”, in Colombia he was part of famous Tropical bands too... “Los Caribes”, “Pacho Galán” y “La Tropibomba” among others. In 1976 he recorded a Salsa Album (One Side Salsa, One Side "Raspas" or Tropical Music with a Band called "Los Mandarines" for discos Banbuco (Discos ORBE). He also have their own bands like Orquesta Chiqui Tamayo, Combo Colombo and was considered a Musica "Maestro". El Maestro "Chiqui" Tamayo was born in La Habana (November 16, 1931) and passed away in Cali, Colombia (February 12, 2011) at 80 Years old. He considered himself a Cuban-Colombia citizen and was buried in Bogota, city where he develop most of his artistic career, since he left Cuba.
