Stelsi

BIOGRAPHY Stelsi is a Ukrainian electro-folk/synthpop/electronic dance music group, founded in 1999 by Alex Kukharsky in Chernivtsy, Bukovina. The band have been credited as one of the first electronic music acts in Ukraine, with fusion of styles that quickly grew into mainstream popularity at the beginning of the 2000s. During its more-than-decade history, band`s sound developed rapidly from big-beat, techno, house & other club-oriented genres (2000-2003) up to more live performance synthpop\alternative\rock music (2003-2005), finally incorporating ethnic\folk elements which resulted in a unique style fusion that was called "electro-folk" by critics and press (2005–present). The band`s music can be frequently heard in commercials, radio & TV shows, presentations, sport events and other popular media throughout Ukraine. HISTORY Since 2005, the team aims to develop its own musical stylistics, namely to create a hybrid of modern dance music with Ukrainian authentic elements (at that time there were very few such experiments). As a result, this style was described by critics as 'Ukrainian electro-folk' (later music reviewers began to tag this notion to the works of such performers as Max Chorny, Katya Chilli, Marvinok, Onuka etc.). The first full-length album in this direction was the 'Tam' (2005), then the album 'Unlimited Unreliability Company' (released by the Kyiv label 'UKRmusic', 2009). The musical canvas in the new stylistics of the band began to make samples and musical fragments from authentic Ukrainian songs and fairy tales in the electronic frame of the 'Stelsi'. At the same time, the team actively works with concert and producer agencies and is actively touring, speaking on major scenes of large-scale festivals.
