Jon Stokes

British trombonist, born in 1983. Jon Began Playing the Trombone at the age of eleven with Mike Sallis as his teacher and he took an active roll in many of Gloucestershire’s Amateur Brass Bands and Orchestras. Jon Studied at the Royal College of Music with Mike Hext and Richard Edwards, until 2005, where he gained experience in many different musical styles including jazz. During his college career Jon helped to form new groups that he still performs with today including ‘The Five Brothers’ and ‘Zone One Brass’. Jon is also a regular with ‘Majestic Brass’ and the ‘Collegiate Brass Ensemble’. Jon is now enjoying a position with Chris Dean’s ‘Syd Lawrence Orchestra’ while also pursuing a freelance career in London. Despite being busy with the orchestra Jon continues to play for many other groups around London including ‘The National Youth Jazz Orchestra’, ‘The Heritage Orchestra’ and ‘The Bridge’. Furthermore Jon is studying at Trinity College of Music as an Archers Scholar with Bobby Lamb and the Big Band.
