Wider

Wider was formed in NYC during August of 1992, and they played their first gig three weeks later. To thier delight (surprise?) it sounded reasonably together and people seem to enjoy it. Past musical affiliations (Hubel - Branca, Foetus; Lo - Live Skull; Sweeney - Skunk; Reid - Branca, Dustdevils) brought whispers of "indie supergroup," but that didn't hold water. The "Indie Blind Faith," maybe. They've played shows outside NYC with Come and just finished up a two-week stint with their friends Helmet. They practice a lot and can play their instruments pretty well. The most diverse musical comparisons (from one show): Grifters and Bolt Thrower. This disturbed a couple of the Widers, but they've made their musical bed and will lie in it gladly. Of their extensive repertoire, they have recorded only three songs. Two of them "Triangle" and "Bloom" are now available as a 7" single on NYC-based Stickshift Records. The third, "Sunday," will appear on Jim Thirlwell's "Mesomorph Enduros II" compilation to be released this summer on Big Cat Records.
