Sam Moore

Singer, born 12 October 1935 in Miami, Florida. Formed a vocal duo with [a=David Prater] in the early 1960's. Enjoyed major success when the duo was coupled with the songwriting team of [a=Isaac Hayes] and [a=David Porter] in 1965. The best known hits from this period are probably [i]Hold On, I'm Coming[/i] (1966) and [i]Soul Man[/i] (1967). Sam & Dave disbanded in 1971, but reunited shortly several times during the 1970's and early 1980's. Sam Moore embarked on a solo career in the 1990's. Sam & Dave were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1992.
