Synaptic Defect

Hard electro / EBM project, founded in 1996 in Germany. Synaptic Defect has been established out of the ashes of a young German EBM-/Electro-project called Evil Sermon, which had a few compilation appearances in the mid-90s, mostly brought out by long out-of- business labels like Celtic Circle Productions or Maschinenwelt Records. It is the solo effort of Marc Tater (music production / vocals) and can look back on two full-length albums released in 2004 ("Mechanical Oppression" - BLC Productions) and in 2008 ("World-Wide Life & Death" - Advoxya Records). Synaptic Defect has been often placed on several highly recognized compilation series like "Endzeit Bunkertracks Vol. 1" (Alfa Matrix), on three parts of BLC Productions famous "Interbreeding" series (III, VI, VII) or on Advoxya Records label compilations "Post Alcoholic Body Syndrome" Vol. 2 & 3. Interviews / stories with appearances on their magazines accompanying compilation CDs have been switched to Germany's Zillo and Sonic Seducer magazines. Also Electro Aggression Records (EAR) 4-CD quadruple box-set "Old School Electrology Volume One" has seen an exclusive appearance of Synaptic Defect called "Electrofreak". After a longer than 10 year-hiatus, Synaptic Defect has switched-on the machinery in mid of 2020 again to start a comeback. Currently the project works on the last necessary things to complete the new album entitled "Initializing Insanity", which should be out in late 2023 on Electro Aggression Records. (EAR 017). To follow the quality standard of this internationally renowned label, the album will be at least a fully DCD set with the main album and a bonus disc “Restoring Sanity”, which includes several remix contributions by among others Pyrroline, PNE, Serpents, and/or T.A.N.K. The music style of Synaptic Defect can be called classic Dark Electro-Industrial pretty much inspired by some well-known early-90s projects provided by labels like Zoth Ommog, CCP, or Off Beat with hints to Ambient-, Lo-Fi / Noise-elements and at least a constant old-school EBM-vibe. This project isn't afraid to experiment and it is open-minded to integrate also raw and unusual sound elements into its music outfit.
