Russell Thornberry

US-born Canadian singer, songwriter and guitarist. Born in Corpus Christie, Texas he was a founding member of The Pozo-Seco Singers. After leaving them he joined The New Christy Minstrels. After touring Canada with the Minstrels he decided to emigrate and in 1969 moved to Canada and became a Canadian citizen. Eventually settled in Edmonton, Alberta where, as an avid outdoorsman and a sour experience with the Canadian recording industry in the early 1970s, he also opened a fishing & tackle shop in that city and another in Calgary. By the mid-1970s he returned to music and saw success in country & western as a performer and songwriter.
