Die Suurbiers

Founded in 1981 as [a415915] and renamed Die Suurbiers in 1984. For the bands history between 1981 and 1984 please see [a415915]. In 1985 they released their first mini LP [r3414597]. In 1986 [a4613948] ([a46551]) joined the band, which he left in 1987 to join [a140168]. In the fall of 1986, [a4611221] ([a629867]) left the band to join [a255362]. The band was then re-formed with [a4613945] ([a4609340]) and [a4613949] ([a2262175]) and was later put on hold around 1988. In 1991 an attempt was made to restart with the support of the label [l=Polydor]. The lineup at that time consisted of [a8051862] ([a2200128]), [a3769577] ([a4599589]), [a4613947] ([a4278462]) and [a3769572] ([a4093907]), but only produced the single [m551885] before the band went back on hiatus. The next unsuccessful restart attempt was made in 2001 with new member [a4614524] ([a1512282]) and the release of the single [r6772776]. The first full LP was announced in 2007 but was never released. On 02/14/2014 Cäpt'n Suurbier, founding member and frontman of the band, committed suicide. As a result of this tragic event, friends, fans and companions founded [l=Verein Für Suurbier-Kultur Und Handwerk] and published [m816235], a retrospective, which consists of previously unreleased studio, demo and live recordings. As part of the release, a new Die Suurbiers band was formed consisting of former members and Overnight Suurbier on vocals, which gave several concerts throughout Germany.
