American steel guitar, pedal steel, and dobro player. Born July 26, 1933 in Eldridge, Alabama. Died October 5, 2008. Nashville-based session player and producer. Played the Grand Ole Opry throughout the early part of his career and was a member of the Mel Tillis Statesiders Band in the early 1970s. Ernie Ashworth, Mel Tillis, Jim and Jessie, Bill Carlisle, Roy Drusky, Justin Tubb, and Leroy Van Dyke are among the musicians Jim played with over his career. Husband of [a759296].
