Chuck Israels

American jazz bassist, composer and arranger, born August 10, 1936 in New York. Israels is best known for his work with [a301147] (1961-1966). He has also worked with [a33589], [a254768], [a251769], [a30486], [a3865], [a251778], [a97545] and many others. He served as Director of the National Jazz Ensemble from 1973 to 1981. He is now the Director of Jazz Studies at Western Washington University in Bellingham.
