Lenni-Kalle Taipale Trio

Finnish jazz trio led by pianist Lenni-Kalle Taipale, formed in 1997. Original line-up consisted of Taipale, Timo Tuppurainen (bass) and Sami Järvinen (drums). The debut album [m=677176] was released 1998 and became the first gold-certified Finnish jazz album. In 1999, Tuppurainen left the group and was replaced by Timo Tolonen, and in 2002 Tolonen and Järvinen were replaced by Ape Anttila and Toni Porthén, respectively. The group's name varied from Lenni-Kalle Taipale Group to Lenni-Kalle Taipale Band, before returning to the original name for the final release [r=3016260], in 2005. After that the group was inactive for years, until the original line-up reunited one more time for a gig at April Jazz in 2011.
