Γιάννης Δερμιτζάκης

(1907 - 1984) a.k.a. Δερμιτζογιάννης Cretan artist [Cretan Lyre, Violin, Mandolin, Guitar, Vocals, Lyrics, Μαντιναδολόγος [Mantinadologos], Poet] Born at Maronia, Siteia, Crete, Greece, in Friday Oct. 21st. Father to [a=Γιώργος Δερμιτζάκης] and [a=Μανόλης Δερμιτζάκης]. The last one of his era, from early age he fonted Cretan Lyre, Mandolin, Θιαμπόλι and Μαντούρα. Always respectful for Cretan tradition, he wrote thousands Μαντινάδες [Mantinades] and poems, in books [1953, 1963, 1968, 1979] Also he gave live performances all over the world spreading the Cretan spirit "Λεβεντιά - Μερακλίκι" [Translation: Does not excist for these words] He collaborated with cretan artists such as [a=Αρίστος Σπανακάκης], [a=Βασίλης Σπανακάκης], [a=Βασίλης Σκουλάς] and the well known Cretan Lyre player Ιωάννης Σολιδάκης ή Κιρλίμπας was also from the village Maronia in Siteia. He died in Dec of 1984
