Ben Patterson (3)

American trombonist. Benjamin Patterson is the music director and lead trombonist with the Airmen of Note, The United States Air Force Band, Washington, D.C. Originally from Sapulpa, Okla., Sergeant Patterson's career in the Air Force began in 1997. A graduate of the University of North Texas jazz program, Sergeant Patterson earned a Bachelor of Music degree in jazz studies. During his undergraduate studies, he performed as lead trombonist with the acclaimed One O'clock Lab Band. He currently is lead trombonist for the Alan Baylock Jazz Orchestra, and a member of the award-winning Latin ensemble, Sin Miedo. He leads the underground rock group Master Plan, the Ben Patterson Sextet and the Ben Patterson Jazz Orchestra. While in the military, Sergeant Patterson has been featured in the 1998-2010 Jazz Heritage performances and broadcast recordings, Clifford Brown Jazz Festival, Elkhart Jazz Festival, Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, Percussive Arts Society Convention, International Trumpet Guild Convention, Detroit Jazz Festival, and ten Airmen of Note compact disc recordings.
