Dawn Silva

[b]American Vocalist[/b] Songwriter/Producer Joined [a=Sly & The Family Stone] in 1975. Born Sacramento, California 1954. Original member of [a=Brides Of Funkenstein] with [a=Lynn Mabry] and joined [a=Parliament]-[a=Funkadelic] in 1977. In 1978, with Lynn, released the successful [m19717] album. The Bride's first single release on Atlantic Records, "Disco To Go", sold over five hundred thousand units, and was [i]Certified Gold.[/i] In 1979, with [a=Sheila Horne] and [a=Jeanette McGruder], released the follow-up, [m19722], voted by Rolling Stone in 2001 as one of the top 50 coolest albums ever released. The Brides were the only group in the P-Funk organization to receive a Rhythm and Blues Award in 1981 for their work. Only member of Brides on both albums. Left P-Funk in 1981. Also collaborated with [a=Ice Cube], [a=Eurythmics], [a=Coolio] and [a=Roy Ayers], on the [i]Boyz in the Hood[/i] movie soundtrack. Recorded and toured with [a=The Gap Band]. Released her solo project [r1404907] in 2000, and her autobiographical book [i]Shadows On The Wall - Memoirs of a Funk Queen[/i] in 2023 as numbered and signed edition with poster.
