Alan Miehet

Finnish folk band originally consisting of [a=Vesa Nuotio] (5-string banjo, guitar, harmonica), [a=Petri Hohenthal] (5-string banjo, guitar, fiddle, mandolin), and [a=Hannu Karlsson] (5-string banjo, guitar, mandolin). The band was founded by Nuotio and Karlsson after their former band [a=Finntrio] was disbanded in April 1979. They asked Petri Hohenthal (who had played with Finntrio, and was a member of [a=Cumulus (2)]) to join them. The band's one and only album, Yhtä soittoa (1980) was the first Finnish direct-to-disc LP recording (audio is recorded directly to the disc without the use of audio tape). The band's folk music was influenced by bluegrass, and traditional Finnish and Irish music. The band was disbanded in 1981, but got back together in 1998, when also Petri Hohenthal's son bassist [a=Jan Hohenthal] joined the band. In 2000, after Karlsson died, guitarist and singer [a=Ari Talkamo] joined the band. The band was disbanded for good in 2005 after Petri Hohenthal died.
